“Real” Poultry – Pasture Raised

"Real" Chickens

We grow fryers, young tender chicken weighing approximately 2 1/2-3 1/2 pounds, broilers that weigh 4 to 5 pounds, and roasters that weigh 6 to 12 pounds. Generally available year around.

Real chickens are available at the Jenifer Street Market, Willy Street Coop, and Sentry-Hilldale in Madison and the Outpost Natural Foods Coop stores in the Milwaukee area.

Heirloom Turkeys

Heirloom or “Heritage” breeds of turkeys are very different from the Broad Breasted White turkey, which comprises 99% of the turkeys in this country.   

White turkeys are typically raised in buildings, and genetically have lost all of their natural instincts, intelligence, and most basic traits in nature, including the ability to fly, run, and even reproduce.  They are raised quickly and often have so little natural fat that they are injected with liquids that contain artificial flavor, salt, and oils, to improve “mouthfeel” while increasing shelf life and adding weight. .

Heirloom Turkeys are breeds that have not been genetically altered nor bred for factory farms.  Instead, they are the original breeds, and often resemble wild turkeys in appearance.  They generally have darker and richer meat – naturally.  Real Turkeys are raised in the pasture where they are free to roam and roost as nature intended. Our turkeys are never debeaked, and no toes clipped.  It takes more than twice as long to raise a Real Turkey than the time it takes factory farms to raise White Turkeys.

Real Turkeys are raised and processed organically, available from November through December. Hens are generally 12 to 16 pounds, and Toms are usually 15 to 24 pounds.


Certified Organic farm fresh brown eggs are available year around.  The hens are pasture-raised and free to roam the farm; to pick and scratch as nature intended.  There is no meat or meat by-products in the feed.  Fresh air and sunshine all makes for a healthy hen and healthy eggs!  No antibiotics or genetically modified feeds.  Real Chicken eggs are high in omega-3 as a result of the certified organic flax we include in their grain supplements.

Lamb, Beef, and Pork

Lamb is generally available November through February, and beef and pork is available at certain times of the year and based upon availability.

All animals are pasture raised. No animals are raised in confinement. All animals are grass fed and grass finished. There are no meat or meat by-products in the feed nor any growth hormones, antibiotics or genetically modified feeds. Our meats are available direct to the consumer only - generally as whole or halves, and custom cuts are available.

Produce, Apples and Berries

Produce, herbs, and fruit are available seasonally from the farm. Many are heirloom varieties and all organically grown! Call for details and availability.
